| I have sent Petty Officer Tom a full copy of AB Henry Lees' service certificate. He was as you may know a rating aboard Hms Active and was put ashore as part of the Naval Brigade from 19th nov 1878 until 21st july 1879. He saw service on some 14 ships and shore establishments. He was awarded the South Africa medal with 1879 clasp and the egypt medal and Khedive star. He joined under an alias since his real name was Aaron Lees. Born in Manchester in 1854 he completed 20 years of service retiring as a !st class Petty Officer in July 1893. He unfortunately died a few years later on the Isle of Wight he left one surviving son who was my wifes grandfather. She has his service certificate and medals we have also been able to purchase an original copy of the "Graphics'" sketch of Actives shore party. https://servimg.com/view/16164888/6

| From what I gather I cannot post the images because they are not available comercially, e.g they are in private hands. I have tried though to post a photo of the medals but have been unable to get to grip with the complexities of it. Un less someone has a good idiots guide on how to do it. |
