I am trying to decipher the second word on a Service record, but I am having trouble interpreting the word. scratch

The first word is Desertion
The second word is ??????
The third word is Theft

Yes you are correct, it is William Wilcox's service record. I am trying to understand why he served 672 days (nearly two years) in prison with hard labour.
