I managed to get rules called Washing The Spears only 39 pages long, but with lots of detail in A4 and with some colour photographs of the 28mm figures in action. Black Powder is another book I got, with a chapter on wargaming Ntombe, again with several pictures. It was unusual to see a wargame other than Isandhlwana or Rorke's Drift. I'm waiting on the delivery of a 1/72 scale model of Rorke's Drift I ordered.

The Rorke's Drift model is available unpainted in kit form by Redoubt Enterprises Ltd. If you go to their site and on to the Zulu War section to special sets and you can see how the model looks painted in a diorama. It is from this same company that the wargame rules Washing The Spears is also obtained.

PostSubject: Re: Wargaming the Zulu War 1879   Wargaming the Zulu War 1879 EmptyFri Aug 12, 2011 3:40 pm

Rorke's Drift model arrived. Surprised how large, solid and fairly heavy it is, though in sections. A real rough look to it, rather than sharply defined edges, which gives it a great deal of character, even before painting. I thought it would be a lightweight plastic as you get with boxed models, but it is a sturdier resin. Barricades sections, as well as the small outbuildings are supplied with it, butl wagons and a few accessories of metal. Not to everyone's taste I'd imagine, but I'm very pleased, just wondering where to position it, as is, without the addition of paint.
