| Hi Pascal . Yes , unfortunately there aren't many coloured Illustrations which is a drawback . I doubt you will find one with Illustrations that will be 100 % correct . The only other book I have on uniforms has NO COLOUR PLATES at all , it is '' Dress Regulations Of The British Army 1874 '' as worn in the zulu war . I'll send you the link , I've dealt with this company on several occasions and never had a problem . This may help you out , very interesting site , much to look at . http://www.military-naval-history.co.uk/pages/uniforms_badges_colours.htm cheers 90th. |

| Hey my friend Garry
I'll tell you a true story, read this ...
That's when the Elite No. 32 Osprey was released in 1991, everyone was happy to see the uniforms of colonial volunteers at Isandhlwana and many manufacturers have produced figures from these illustrations, alas ...
Result! Besides very recent figures that are , no figures of Natal volunteers have bandollier because Richard Scollins represented them at Isandhlwana with the standard equipment of all Volunteer Corps included a shoulder belt with ammunitions pounch attached ,worn over the left shoulder.
These differed in full dress and field service order :the former feathured a white belt with black leather pouch, the second a brown leather belt and pouch.Pouches and belt were generally decorated with corps badges...
However ,on mustering for service in Zululand, all volunteers received two bandoliers of 50 ammunitions;whether they retained their pouch belt is unclear and for me impossible, because when wearing theirs bandoliers one would be worn over the left shoulder and the other around the waist...
Well you can imagine the result? 90% of my Natal volunteers are not bandolliers, it seems that no one player is hindered by this!
Well I am obliged to make all bandolliers with "green stuff" ...
It gets worse, the men of 3 / 60 th rifles were not wearing the sling of their MH in the same way as the other foot ... All figures rifles on the market are fake and live the "green stuf". ..
Best of all, I was able to get tons of British infantry super nice to my dear 24 th, and I'm so tired that I had only just noticed that they all have their water bottles on the left hip ..Hello work for the poor Pascal ...
And I can quote you many details like this ... So distrust with documentation ...
Cheers
The poor Pascal . |

| Pascal,
"It gets worse, the men of 3 / 60 th rifles were not wearing the sling of their MH in the same way as the other foot ... All figures rifles on the market are fake and live the "green stuf". ..
The 60th was a rifle Brigade, as was standard practice they retained the butt swivel on their M-H rifles, not the trigger swivel. All other regiments had the butt swivel removed by a list of change of 1876, a special plug supplied to fill the hole left. By 1877 the butt swivel had been completely abolished in manufacture, but, available to Rifle Brigade artificers to fit as a special.
Likewise they "should" be armed with the P56 yataghan bayonet, however photographic images of the time are inconclusive.

| Yes Neil
The sling of their MH are attached to the butts of their rifles and their bayonets are sword-bayonets. ...
