Hi,
Does anyone know how many survivors there were from Isandhlwana ? Samuel Wassell, Thomas Westwood, and Frederick Evans, is as far as I know........ can anyone throw anymore names into the pot?

Thanks Drummer Boy, I'm not to hot on Isandhlwana, so I thank you for posting that..... I was aware of Shannon and Doig from an account I read somewhere, did they watch the Defence of Rorke's Drift from the bushes.?

Hi Chrispacket . No , But they did ride past the camp and told them what had happened , and that they would all be murdered !, there were two that had got into the bushes that took part in the R.D Defence and stayed there till the next morning . I think they may have both been in the hospital at one stage , one was wounded , Beckett ( Assegai wound to stomach / abdoman) died through blood loss in the morning . The other being Pvt John Connolly who got back inside the defences after 5.00am on the 23rd Jan . cheers 90th.

Shannon and Doig, raised the alarm at RD, then raced on to Ladysmith to so the same there.
