Question on Uniforms of the 3rd Foot/Buffs

Hi. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the uniforms that would have been worn by the officers of the 3rd Foot. It is my understanding the Blue patrol coat would have been most common, but what about the India pattern frocks with regimental colored facings? And is it true that officers below field rank would wear Glengarries, rather that the brimmed forage cap?

Hi Springfieldarmory .
I can tell the 3rd Regt facings were ' Buff ' coloured hence the name ' The Buffs ' . There is a photo in Christopher
Wilkinson - Latham's book ' Uniforms And Weapons Of The Zulu War ' on page 32 showing a group of officers from the 3rd Regt wearing many differing forms of dress , ie Glengarrie's , Foreign Serv Helmet , Dress Hats etc .
If someone can post that photo I'm sure it will be appreciated . You need to study mo
