Yes , these 1/ 24 th medals always are more expensive than other regiments , there are several from dealers which are currently available through dealers .

I get the higher prices for the 1877- 8-9 clasp medals to men of 1/24th who were not in those companies at iSandlwana. The men in S.Africa for several years had become battle hardened veterans, but I do not get the higher prices to the replacement men of the 24th who arrived post iSandlwana, the later draft recipients who were sent in to replace those members of 1/24th who'd been killed.

you know my vies on this - it just does my head in - I am sure there are some people on Ebay who think they are buying an Isandlwanan casualty or comrade of one . Thats the advantage of a an informed market and careful wording on the lot.

But it is not just an ebay thing - some really good and trustworthy dealers have these medals on their sites (as 90th points out) at similar pricing. I have never got it - but I think it is no coincidence that these medals stay on lists for longer while other SAGS are snapped up .

I hope at some point that the laws of supply and demand take effect !!
