Medal with 1879 clasp to CAPT. H.F.MOREWOOD 57th REGT. with letters from Zululand to his cousin, Hammer price £3000, today at Andrew Smith & Sons Winchester. Salute

I bid that up to £2400, nice medal but most of the price was in the letters which always make large sums, wouldn't be suprised if letters and medal are split.

Shame if they do get split, i also noticed the DSO groups were family related, would be nice to think someone in the family bought and reunited them Salute

Agreed the Letters no doubt pushed the price but let's hope they arent split . I've recently purchased some letters from a chap from the 80th Regt who died at Utrecht after he'd taken part in the Battle Of Ulundi , so I've been fruitlessly searching for his medal - which is appearing to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack ! Suspect
