Subject: Swazis at Ulundi ? Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:55 am
Hi all
As you know, the organization, uniforms, equipment and weapons of the NNC infantry as been completely changed for the Battle of Gingindlovu and remained the same for the second invasion.
But for the 330 NCOs and soldiers of the Woods irregulars commanded by Captain Loraine White at Ulundi, their organization, uniforms, equipment and weapons had also changed since Hlobane and Kambula as for the NNC infantry after Isandhlwana ?
And NCOs of this beautiful unit were black and blacks of this beautiful unit were the unit were Swazi warriors ?
Cheers

Subject: New NNC... Thu Feb 07, 2013 8:11 am
Hi all
New infantrymen of the NNC received British fashioned tunics of the type of the 99th Foot in Janvier 1879...
I guess facing colors were removed from these tunics, but the collars of these tunics are also removed?
And for those who were equipped with MH, what equipment they carried for their ammunition ?
And for those who had another type of rifle, what equipment they carried for their ammunition ?
How many cartridges were distributed to each of these men ? 5 as in January 1879 ?...
Cheers
