Due to recent events on this forum, we have now imposed a zero tolerance to harassment and bullying. All reports will be treated seriously, and will lead to a permanent ban of both membership and IP address.
Any member blatantly corresponding in a deliberate and provoking manner will be removed from the forum as quickly as possible after the event.
If any members are being harassed behind the scenes PM facility by any member/s here at 1879zuluwar.com please do not hesitate to forward the offending text.
We are all here to communicate and enjoy the various discussions and information on the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Opinions will vary, you will agree and disagree with one another, we will have debates, and so it goes.
There is no excuse for harassment or bullying of anyone by another person on this site.
The above applies to the main frame areas of the forum.

| Hon. Captain and Quatermaster William Burrows served in the Zulu Campaign 1879; Burmese expedition 1887-9 and Boer War 1899-1901 and was awarded medals for these campaigns.
Can anyone confirm. |

BURROWS, William Quartermaster & Honorary Lieutenant, 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers during Anglo-Boer War Born in Dundee, Scotland 10/5/1855. Enlisted 24th Regiment March 1871 (as #2-24/2371). Appointed Orderly Room Clerk 23/1/1879. In the ranks 23 years 32 days. Lieutenant & Quartermaster (from Quartermaster-Sergeant) 15/11/1893, Captain 29/11/1900, Retired 24/11/1903. Died 27/12/1938 (See SWB Journal 15). Garrison Quartermaster Klerksdorp. Posted to General Depot 1/11/1878. Served in the Kaffir and Zulu Wars in C Company 2nd/24th. Served in Burma as Quartermaster-Sergeant. Awarded Long Service and Good Conduct Medal 1/1/1892. Embarked Southampton 13/1/1900. South Africa service 2/3/1900-31/5/1902, including operations in Orange Free State, Feb-Mar 1900, actions at Karee Siding 29/3/1900, Vet River 5/5/1900-6/5/1900 and Zand River 10/5/1900; operations in the Transvaal May-Jun 1900, action near Johannesburg; operations in the Transvaal, west of Pretoria Aug-Nov 1900; operations in orange River Colony Jun-Aug 1900. Mentioned in Despatches, London Gazette, 10/9/1901. Granted the Honorary rank of Captain, London Gazette, 27/9/1901. Medals: South Africa Medal clasp 1877-8-9 India General Service (1854) clasp Burma 1887-89 Queen’s South Africa Medal clasps Johannesburg, Cape Colony, Orange Free State King’s South Africa Medal clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (AG List 385 dated 1/1/1892).
