I am interested in searching for records pertaining to my ancestor, Pte. Donegan of G Co. 2-24th Foot. I have been completely unsuccessful other than establishing he went through recruit training at Brecon and fell at Isandhlwana.

Thanks for the info Tim! Do you know of any further resources I could pursue? At this point, all I know about the unfortunate Private Donegan is what you've provided.

Michael Donegan joined Depot at Brecon on 1 January 1877 according to the 25 Brigade Pay and Muster roll WO12/10247. He was posted to 2/24th very soon after on 22 January 1877. This suggests that he had previous army service - probably with the Militia so the there may be some militia enlistment documents for Donegan surviving at Kew in WO96 series.
