Hi all I've just bought the book in the title to try and understand events after the 1879 war. Has anyone else in the forum read it? Any opinions? Thanks as always Ciroferrara

Ciroferrara,
Can I suggest some other titles to you?
I would recommend John Laband's The Atlas of the Later Zulu Wars, 1883-1888 or his Rope of sand - The Rise and Fall of the Zulu Kingdom in the Nineteenth Century.
In my opinion Jeff Guy's The Destruction of the Zulu Kingdom would also give you a better idea of the events that followed the Zulu War, rather than his work on the Bambatha Rebellion.

I would also recommend Guy's 'The Destruction of the Zulu Kingdom'. The first part of the book covers the Anglo-Zulu war itself, while the bulk of it covers the tragic aftermath. No glory here, a sobering read.

It has been an interesting read and some truly amazing photographs... although I've done a fair bit of research on the 1906 rebellion and he did miss out some pictures that in my opinion should have been included. Ie pictures held in the natal archives and killie Campbell collection of zulu casualties. Still a good read Cheers

You clearly know more of the photographic archive than I do. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the book.
