Frank Pope Americas only AZW veteran?

With his associations with George Barker I though he might have been 2/3rd Regiment but n/t.

Morning 90th
Ive been trying to chase that down for years. His nick name , according to a single source, was 'Yankee Dan,' so very possible he was American but not conclusive enough to confirm it.

Sorry Gary the reason I mentioned that is I have been looking at this for quite a while and found a potential. At Tugela Ferry there was a man worked at the crossing called Jantjies, sounds rather similar, and he was described as, "a fierce Hottentot, short in stature that no man would considerer cheating for his fare."
It is a pretty similar description to the "Yankee Dan" and the pronunciation with the 'J' being pronounced as a 'Y' in the local dialect is again very similar. Speculation I know.
