Glengarry of the 24th

I didn’t find anything on this in a search. What color was the pompom on top of the glengarry worn by the 24th in Zululand? I’ve found some sources that say red and others that say black. I appreciate any help on this.

The tourie - pom-pom - was black for non-Royal regiments of the Line. Royal Regiments wore red touries.

Whichever sources that you have stating they were red should be disregarded, likewise some modern illustrations that depict red touries.
