The real 'Chard Roll' for Rorke's drift

The SWB Museum at Brecon has a Copy? of the Chard roll of Rorke's Drift defenders one also appeared on the Royal Engineers website and also on the Soldiers of the Queen website, the last two differ from the first in that lance corporal Attwood's name appears as Fleetwood? I know that there is more than one version of this roll but why the error? anyone know?

I think its something to do with another roll complied by Col. Sgt. Bourne

I am sure the original is at Brecon as I obtained my copy of the roll from them many years ago.

thanks Johnb the roll on the soldiers of the queen website is quoted by them as having been taken from the swb museum magazine but it is not the same as the roll that is housed at the swb museum.???

I am currently moving house so my copy of the roll is currently packed away - once I have unpacked I will check my copy. I had always assumed it was the same as the one held by the Brecon museum. It may take a week or two for me to find it!

As you bought your copy of the roll at the swb museum I have no doubt that it will have Lance Corp Attwoods name spelt correctly and not as Fleetwood.
