The following from ' The Noble 24th ' by Norman Holme .
MEEHAN , James . 2 / 24th 2483 Drummer . Attested in Circa March 1871 , he appears on Muster Roll for 1 / 1 / 73 as a
Private posted from the depot to Waley . Appointed Drummer 7 / 8 / 76 . Sentenced to 42 days imprisonment with hard labour ,
of which 11 days were remitted , june 77 . Awarded a good shooting prize in 78 . Continued in South Wales Borderers 1 / 7 / 81.
Posted from India to England for discharge 29 / 1 / 83 . Served in the Kaffir war 1878 , Served in the zulu war 1879 , a drummer in
A Co at the defence Of Rorke's Drift .
