| Hi All, I would like to share with you a 120mm figure of Colour Sgt Bourne I made and painted for my Dad's 85th birthday, as it was he who first took me to see Zulu at the cinema in the early 70's. Hooked ever since. cheers Richie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Brilliant model, very well done Richie. Great detail, and based on Nigel Green himself (as Col Sgt Bourne). Have you done any other models from the Zulu war Richie? If so, could you please post the pictures up for us to admire. Regards, Martin. |

| Hi Ciscokid, Pascal, Martin & Gary, Glad you like my figure it is an old out of production Mike French Tiny Troopers 120mm resin model kit painted in acrylics. I took up modelling less than 2 years ago to unwind from the grind of work. Although I have completed 6 WW2 models I have now decided to concentrate on this period. This is the first one I have completely finished. I have quite a few work in progress some of which I have converted. I have a 17th Lancer I have converted from a standing foot figure to mounted as shown in the photo. I plan to make figures from others regiments as well as volunteers regiments and units. All my figures will 120mm scale. Gary as for giving up work and doing this only when my lottery numbers come up   , I am a complete novice you should see some of the figure sculptors and painters on the modelling website I am a member of, now they are outstanding. cheers again for the compliments and I hope you like my work in progress model figures. | Hi 1879graves, Mr Greaves & 90th, Thanks for the compliments. The Lancer is a custom conversion one off and not commercially available. I used the main body from a standing 17th Lancer by Mike French, basically for the Lancer I have scratch built some new legs, modified a pair of arms extensively and added two new hands from the spares box. For the lance - the pennant was made from lead foil and the lance holder from a piece of sprue. I still have the spurs and lance strap to sort. But the figure is just about there even though everthing is just pinned or blue tacked on. The horse was a second hand purchase and came with one ear so had to scratch build a new one. The stirrups were scratch built from bits plastic and lead foil. I did not like the resin tail so made a new one from the copper screen off a piece of co-axial cable. I scratch built the horse shoe pouch, cavalry messtin and made the carbine boot from a piece of paper. A mate of mine sculpted the carbine for me, he has also done the same for the Martini Henry (These weapons are commercially available). A piece of the tack was added in order to add the halter chain which was provided from the wife's jewelry box [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The reins are still to be made but basically the horse is complete. (The reins on are just a fill in to guage the length). Also started to lay down some ground work which is basically bits just scrounged from the garden except for the grass which are the roots I cut off onions. All the figures used are now out of production but you can still pick them up from time to time. The figure waving the helmet, the one kneeling and the Light Horse Trooper are again all one off conversions and not commercially available. I still have a number of figures from the Zulu and Zulu Dawn range to bulid and paint. My next project will be the same size as the mounted Lancer but it will depict the rescue of D'Arcy by Buller. If you need anything else just give me a shout. I will keep the thread updated from time to time when I make some significant progress. cheers for now Richie |

| Hi impi, Thanks for the heads up, the old man (Dad) new it was coming but had to wait past his birthday until I got my finger out on the painting but he really pleased. What do buy someone for an 85th birthday who took you to see Zulu for the first time!
My sister always says be careful what you wish for! If you wish hard enough you just might get one. cheers Richie |

! You already have it. It will make his day. Just make sure you put Zulu on after he opens it, to make the day that little bit more special. |
