90th thanks, and yes, funnily enough I am in the market if anything interesting should crop up. This is all of those things, but a 5 figure sum for this medal to this recipient, is not tempting me personally. Undoubtedly, it will tempt another collector. It is certainly worth that money to someone, but it is just a personal thing.
I would prefer one to an obviously Welsh soldier of the 24th just to annoy Martin, or one to a senior nco of the 24th or otherwise who was at iSandlwana, a sergeant perhaps, of the 2nd battalion maybe, whose contribution during the battle was more widely known and likely to have been a hard fighting one. I missed out on one exactly like this recently as I underbid due to the fact that I made the amateurish mistake of bidding on 2 at the same time in a recent DNW auction, so underbidding in case I got both, but in the end, getting neither - as another member of this forum knows!

Hi Tasker .
Yes I know what its like to be the underbidder ; as I've been so on two instances with Isandlwana Casualty Medals ,
one to the R.A and another to the Pioneer Btn .

Hi tasker.

Glad that you are back safe and sound, and hope all went well for you. Salute

The medal is just a "Tad" Shocked too expensive for me.

What makes you think that I would be annoyed by you having the medal of a Welsh soldier? If I had one, I would be very proud to own it (saying that I have Welsh connections).

Mind you, I would imagine that it would be a fairly rare one, wouldn't it scratch with there being not so many Welshmen there

Anyway, like I said, glad you are back safe and sound.

Have you got a good sun tan.

Martin. Salute
