| http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTREMELY-SCARCE-1879-BRITISH-ZULU-WAR-SOUTH-AFRICA-MEDAL-99th-OF-FOOT-/400327331794?pt=AU_Militaria&hash=item5d355e4fd2 A way over the odds medal at £800 . What makes it worst I am preet sure I saw this medal recently either on Chris Dixon's or Rennie Alcock's site for the usual £500+ . It also looks like it has had a real good polish Still lets look on the bright side - if this is a true valuation our medal collections have just increased in value by 60% Cheers Sergio |

| Hi Sergio .
    I agree wholeheartedly , this seller has sold a couple this year at absolutely staggering prices and I dont know how !. I sent them an email a few months back when they sold a 2 / 4th Medal which they stated '' This regt had taken part in the most fiercest fighting of the war '' !. Please ...............they didnt take part in any of the battles at all !!!!. . The woman then emailed me to ask what battles did they take part in ! , when I said none I didnt hear from her again. I cant believe they've been getting what they ask ! . Seems very strange to me ???. Cheers 90th. |

| what a shame - that these type of dealers in the broadest sense of the word are in the market , it just muddies the waters for everyone. It is not helped by the number of very good replica SAGS 79 medals that are being sold - and presumably renamed, aged and passed on.
I recently bought a replica SAGS79 and DCM to create a wall display and was surprised an how good the replica was. It would really help if they had to be marked as replica when sold.
Unfortunately the interest in the campaign and the easy money to be made - means that the old Caveat emptor reigns.
in the meanttime I would stick to the reputable dealers like Rennie alcock, Jager Medals, Nill Friar etc !! |

| There you are. Steer clear of this seller. Obviously, there are a lot of buyers out there with more money than knowledge who are prepared to be be preyed on by unscrupulous dealers. Leave them to it!
SergioD - add Gary Neate and Chris Dixon to your list of reputable dealers who can be trusted 100%completely. |

| I agree with the dealer recommendations above and would add Pete Sheen at Military Medals online also trading as DCM medals - he has some 24th and **th Sags available and is always reliable.
Admin - could we create a recommended dealer list - for medals and AZW militaria dealers. I accept that for legal reasons we might not want a not to be trusted list - but I think for new members or new collectors it would be good if they had a list of recommended dealers they could go to.
All of the medal dealers in this thread are trustworthy and more than happy to help collectors old and new.
Cheers
