PostSubject: Pte J Price   Pte J Price EmptyThu Dec 22, 2016 5:06 pm

Hi All

Do anyone have any information on Pte J Price?
I know there are two letters in the Brecon museum archives written from SA to Brecon by him which I intend on reading in January but this is all I know.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Geraint

I'm wondering could it have been James Price?

There is also a John Price, a Private, serial number 1500 who served in "D" Company 2/24th.
From St David's parish, Brecon.  Two letters from Pte. Price mailed home to his parents* were published in The Brecon County Times - Saturday, March 29, 1879 along with other letters by Brecon lads.  Found on FindMyPast newspaper search.  Quite poignant in content with details marching into Isandlwana camp, etc.

*John Price signed or marked his attestation papers with an "X" and his discharge papers state he was in possession of a 4th Class Certificate (he signed his name).  No doubt a mate of Price's actually penned the letters on his behalf.
