Looks a cheery old chap:D
I can understand with the passage of time the memory fades and things are forgotten or confused for instance the captured guns are obviously those from iSandlwana, Gingindlhlovu was the 2 April not the 7th but muzzle loaders??? I would have thought he would never have forgotten his old Martin Henry.
Interesting comment about the smoke causing them to cease fire

Yes not the first time I've read that companies or sections had to hold their fire waiting for the smoke to disperse at Gingindlovhu , it would've been the same in all the actions if there was no breeze to move it on .
