This is what I have:
THOMAS John – Private – 25B/1391 – 2nd/24th See 1925 photo 25b/971 Driscoll. Personal details:Baptised Peter Edmonds this being his true name. Brothers/sisters: One brother known. Name sometimes spelt Edmunds. Service details: Did not die in South Africa as reported. Arrived Casemate Barracks Gibraltar 13/1/1880 aboard H.M.S.Orontes. Reported to Royal Hospital Chelsea, London as an in-pensioner under AO68/GEN/5162. Honours/awards: South Africa Medal 1877-8-9 “Clasp 1877-8-9”. Held by The Royal Welsh (formerly South Wales Borderers – Royal Regiment of Wales 24th/41st Foot) Museum Brecon. Death: Bridgend, Glamorganshire, Wales 4/1/1939 at his brother’s home. Buried Bridgend. Footnote: A John Edmonds from Pontypool was reported as “Killed Isandlwana” in the Free Press of Monmouth 1879.
